Having completed his Gastroenterology training in Melbourne, Dr Zarghom furthered his expertise by obtaining a Fellowship in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) at the University of Toronto, Canada.

Despite the enduring presence of expressions like “a gut-wrenching experience” or “butterflies in the stomach” throughout history, it was not until the latter part of the 20th century that a profound understanding of this connection was achieved. It was finally acknowledged that anxiety and depression can induce gastrointestinal issues, and conversely, such issues can contribute to mood disorders.
